VOLUNTEERS

  • Alex Mann (she/her) is from Chicago, IL. She joined the Philly Birth Fund in January 2024 as a student volunteer. She is currently getting her Master's in Public Health degree from the University of Pennsylvania. As a part of the Philly Birth Fund team, Alex hopes to help improve access to birthing services for all people in the Philadelphia area.

  • Tegan Hagy (she/her), is a lifelong Philadelphian and mother of two who currently lives in Germantown. Tegan came to the Philly Birth Fund as one of the original volunteer organizers when a call for support was sent out in Spring of 2020. Tegan has trained and worked as a birth doula, taught childbirth education and postpartum yoga classes and served as a lactation counselor; most of her professional career is in food system and food justice work. Tegan was privileged enough to have one homebirth (with Christy Santoro!) and one birth center birth, and strongly believes everyone should have access to birth where they feel the safest and has access to anti-racist, culturally competent pre and postnatal care.
